To review the passive

Rules/Explanation:

This is a really basic looking thing (I made it in about 10 minutes and you can make it more visually appealing if you have time, I wish I had time) but I had it suggested to me by someone else, made it quickly and it gets students very excited and works well, I have found!

I was asked to make a warm-up game that would last at least 15 minutes using the passive. The game is simple but hard to explain in class - students should pick it up easily.

First, get the class into 8 teams (or different numbers if you like, I find 8 worked well) and split the blackboard into 8.
Then tell them that they will be playing a game to review the passive.
Explain that they have to work as a team, first discuss the answer, then write the answer on the board with ONLY ONE PERSON BEING ALLOWED TO WRITE ONE WORD AT A TIME with no paper to be brought to the board. It is also a race, so the fastest team wins. Stand to the side and once you see a correct answer, yell "STOP!"

So that's:
1) discuss in teams
2) ONE PERSON writes ONE WORD on the blackboard
3) they give the chalk to the next person, etc.
4) when you see a correct answer, yell STOP!
5) show them the answer, get them to repeat after you
6) correct any spelling mistakes / errors they have made on the board and give a point to those who got it (sometimes more than one team gets points if they finish close together because it can be hard to tell who was first, so you can be generous if you want).

Some things:
Please change my name and JTE's name if you use it!
I think it's nice to be strict about spelling, punctuation and handwriting, since this is 3rd grade now.
It can be hard to get them to stop so I would just walk in front of the board if they don't listen. Which is also kind of fun, if you wanna move their arms out of the way and stuff.
You will get COVERED in chalk if you erase the board yourself after every question (I learned this the hard way) so choose some volunteers to erase the writing after each question, too!!!
This PowerPoint took between 20-30 minutes so be wary that it is not a quick warm-up, unless you use the Unscramble sentences only, which takes far less time.

Have fun!
