ヤホ!
Now this here lesson is cobbled together with stuff I found on here (Gia) and other sites. Maybe ALTopedia. But I've adjusted it to my tastes and made the classic ol' preeeeesentation for it.
It uses the grammar on pages 70/71 of Here We Go 3. Reduced relative clause post participle modifier 例: This is a monkey I ate last week. (One of the students said that answer to me in class and I laughed an unreasonable amount.)
First we got some ol' examples, using that there Simpsons.
Then a sort of pair or group activity using the paper and erasers (or whatever students can use as pieces to represent themselves on a game board). It should be clear if you look at the worksheet but basically students janken (rock, paper, scissors) and if they win they can move x amount of spaces forward.
If it's rock 1 space, scissors 2 spaces, paper 3 spaces.
The winner asks "What's this?"
Loser answers with the sentence structure seen on the worksheet.
NOT ALL ANSWERS USE THE WORDS IN THE WORD BOX. Of course, students can make any answer as long as it is following the grammar.
If the loser answers the question correctly, they can move a space forward. This is incentive to answer.
Winner is the one who gets to finish first. If you have loads of time you can get them to go backwards to start again.
After that, students write sentences using the target grammar and draw little pictures of what the sentence describes.
Aaaaaaaafter that, a quiz I stole but changed to the target grammar. Its pretty fun so try it out if you want. Pretty straightforward, groups, timer, whiteboards.
Lastly, the activity I stole from Gia but modified. Kids make a 3 hint quiz about something but use the target grammar for the hints.
So, for example.
This is a country I visited.
This is a country I ate sujuk in.
This is a country Erdoğan served as president for.
What is it?
.............................................................................
Turkey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think many of the students will know Erdoğan but that was more for you, dear viewer.
Anyhow, then students go around, interview style, quizzing each other and keeping record of how successful others are in their quizzes.
So, that's about it. Hope this serves you well m'lord.
