Where is Kirby? School locations, directions

First powerpoint starts with a warm up. Practice left, straight, and right. Then play spot the dog. I usually have students raise their hands and I call on them. Then at the end you practice room names around the school. These are from the 4th grade elementary textbook I believe. The last slide is a game that I don't know how to play, so I skip it.

Do you know the way?

ヤホ!

While I'm here, I may as well upload my directions lesson too. This is for the Daily Life section of unit 4, page 60 in HERE WE GO 2.

This is basically a comp of a couple of direction lessons I made before and the warm up quiz I stole from somewhere tbh.

The run down is like this.

I made a bunch of flash cards for ES but they also good to review vocab for 1st grade JHS as a powerpoint.

The files for animals and food are too big so here is the google drive link:

Directions in Kyoto

This is a read and run type game for directions. I think there's something like this in another lesson plan on the site, this one just has a different map etc.

(I haven't been able to try this game yet because the class I was supposed to have was taken up by an impromptu 45 minute life lesson from the JTE haha~ so if there's anything unclear that I didn't catch/anything to improve please let me know! The time is an estimate at the moment as well.)

First go over the direction dialogue and Idea Box vocabulary on page 10 if they aren't familiar with it!

Could you tell me how to get to Kagone City? (Directions with Pokemon)

Hi team! My JTE asked me to make a directions lesson for Lets Talk 1 of new crown 3 (page 10) for my first lesson with them of the year. Since its different to asking the way in Total English 3, I thought I would share it with you.

First, review turn right, left, go straight etc however you please. I used Katie's pac-man thing because it takes like 5 min and is easy and cute.

Asking the way with Harry Potter (lesson 1)

I start with the slideshow and explain that we are doing asking the way with trains. then demonstrate the ieyasu and naotora convo with my JTE and explain the A/B information gap worksheets (thanks to Clare and Josh for this). After handing out the worksheets we go over the conversation structure (repeat after ALT) and then they start the activity. probably give them 10 or more minutes for this.

Subway Map Directions

Obvs go over the sentences and the meanings for the first half of the class.

The vocab for this lesson is almost exclusively words they should already know. So they just need to practice the sentence structures.

On the Teacher’s Copy you will see a list of starting points and destinations. Write them on the board and have the students practice in pairs giving directions to one another using those station routes. Let them know that routes 5 and 6 are challenges.

i.e. Take the East Line. Get off at Bond street Station. Change to the Central Line ext…
